Bioprocess Control receives grant to optimise biogas plants

Bioprocess Control has been awarded a 2.35 MSEK grant from the Swedish state innovations authority, Vinnova, as a part of co-financal contribution towards the development of a smart data network for optimising biogas plants. The project will be carried out over an 18-month period starting in January 2015.

Through the programme Forska & Väx (Research & Grow) Vinnova is investing resources to support and strengthen enterprises’ innovation and competitiveness.

- We are honoured that our proposal has been selected in the top list from a strong pool of applications. As an innovative technology firm active in the global biogas market, it is essential for us to continue developing new technology solutions that can accelerate the acquisition of knowledge and experience on biogas production processes. The funding support from Vinnova will play an important role during the development of the new smart data network and increase the ability of Bioprocess Control to bring the technology to market. We aim to help biogas producers around the world to optimise their processes, says Dr. Jing Liu, CEO of Bioprocess Control.

Bioprocess Control is developing a novel data network for biogas plants. This network will collect, store, analyse and present key process information from the biogas plant and thereby evaluate the process performance. This new platform will be able to cost efficiently supervise the biogas plant, and subsequently improve the bottom line through cost savings. The platform will also lower process knowledge barriers for commercial biogas production. All in all, this new data network will mean great potential for more optimised biogas production around the world.

- There currently exists a huge divide between the data gathered from biogas production facilities and the application of this data in models and predictions for the future. To be part of the design and development of the hardware and smart networks that will position itself in-between these two worlds is a great and exciting challenge, says Nicklas Uvelöv, Hardware Development & IT Manager.

Receiving this grant not only supports Bioprocess Control to develop new exciting technologies to further optimise biogas production around the world, it also serves as a recognition that Bioprocess Control is seen as important to Sweden’s innovativeness.
